André 3000’s New Blue
Ever the innovator, André 3000 pushed the boundaries of music once more with his vivacious debut solo album New Blue. Known for his spectacular work in hip hop duo Outkast André 3000 subverts all expectations in this album. Opening the album with his 12-minute track, “I Swear, I Really Wanted To Make A “Rap” Album But This Is Literally The Way The Wind Blew Me This Time” André 3000 explains to us very plainly to buckle up for the sonic journey he is about to take us on, despite it not benign what audiences may have expected. New Blue is a beautiful blend of Lofi and electronic jazz, with each track taking listeners on an entirely different journey. The album is chock full of dispersed vocals, unconventional instruments, heavy beats and intergalactic madness. Bless your ears this weekend with André 3000’s experimental and effervescent album New Blue.
Biig Piig’s "Watch Me"
Get in your best clubbing gear and spin Biig Piig’s dreamy, bass heavy and truly hypnotizing new track. “Watch Me” is catchy, eerie and makes you want to get up and dance. The soul shaking bass line and vampy undertones make the track stand out from Biig Piig’s previous releases that skewed toward dream pop in the past. Produced by house extraordinaire NWSPK “Watch Me” he brings an entirely new sonic atmosphere going into this new era of Biig Piig’s sound. “Watch Me” is the perfect vampy house track that’ll have you bopping along instantly.
Reneé Rapp’s Snow Angel Deluxe
Reneé Rapp is back at it with four iconic new tracks on her stellar debut project Snow Angel. Rapp is back with “Messy,” “I Do,” “Swim” and “Tummy Hurts (feat. Coco Jones). The four tracks feel like a seamless extension of the already solid Snow Angel. Grammy nominee and R&B starlet, Coco Jones, brings a warmth and depth to Snow Angel that is unexpected but enchanting in the final track “Tummy Hurts- Remix.” A personal favorite track of mine was “Messy” because of the comedic spin on heartbreak Rapp takes with lyrics like “Trust me as soon as you go/ I'll make fake scenarios/ Where I say, "I love you", you say, "Gross"/ That leads to crying in the grocery store/ Man, I miss my bathroom floor/ No dirty looks from the moms in aisle four.” Everyone say thank you Renee Rapp!
Asha Imuno’s FLORIDA WATER
Asha Imuno returns with his banger of a single “FLORIDA WATER.” Imuno’s flow in “FLORIDA WATER” is nothing short of groovy, sultry and addictive to listen to. Imuno creates an immersive soundscape, departing from previously Hip Hop heavy tracks Imuno begins leaning into sonic elements from 60s and 70s R&B with his own unique flare. The track is filled with velvety saxophone lines, memorable bars and glittering beats that’ll have you wanting more. The track itself is sprinkled with “anecdotes from his most intimate relationships, resulting in an introspective, cathartic offering.” Stream “FLORIDA WATER” this weekend if you want some good for your soul R&B.
