Solidad's Face Card

Meet Solidad, our favorite stylish stylist. Born in Atlanta and raised in Nigeria before returning to the U.S. for high school and university, Solidad currently works in the fashion space, where she does personal/editorial styling and fashion content creation. She is absolutely obsessed with personal image as it pertains to fashion, hair, and beauty, and loves curating a strong image for herself and others. Did we mention that she has a face card that never declines? We talked all things beauty with Solidad for our fourth installment of the series.

When did you first get into beauty?

I was very much the girl watching all the YouTube makeup tutorials at age fourteen. I loved the era when creators would get sent products and do swatches of everything in the collection, from lipsticks to eyeshadows to foundation. Loved binging those.

What was the first ever beauty product that you were obsessed with?

Colourpop's liquid matte lipsticks were probably my first obsession, partly because they were the first thing I could buy with my own money lol. I had all the colors because my college roommate and I would share and play swapsies! Looking back now, I cringe because my lips used to be sooooo dry, and I wouldn't even line them, just a dark purple lip and vibes!

Who are your current beauty inspirations in culture?

Olamide Olowe, of course, my muse and my inspiration! Also, Uchjn, the base queen. I convinced myself that she and I are the same exact skin tone, so I buy most complexion products that she owns and it works flawlessly for me. She's taught me everything I know when it comes to technique and how to use certain tools. I also enjoy Toni Bravo, and how liquid blushes and lip products look on her super-rich complexion.

Let's get into some product recs! If you could only bring three beauty products with you on a two-month trip, what would they be and why(the must-haves)?

1. Huda Beauty Easy Bake Loose Baking & Setting Powder

Huda Beauty easy bake. It's the perfect under-eye setting powder; my concealer doesn't budge after that goes on.

3. Makeup by Mario SurrealSkin™ Liquid Foundation

4. Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray

2. Danessa Myricks Beauty Yummy Skin Soothing Serum

3. Huda Beauty Concealer

To close, give me one Solidad exclusive beauty tip!

I use my foundation brush to blend at each step of application, and I find that it makes my face look more seamless and allows the products to sit better from the foundation residue.
