New York City artist Comet returns with a fierce new single, “Opium,” the first taste of her upcoming EP Quitter, out May 16.

Produced by Richard Orofino (Sex Week), the track cuts deep with snarling guitar riffs, raw emotion, and a gut-punch of existential lyricism—anchored by Comet’s unmistakable vocal grit. Directed by Fiona Kane (quannnic, Hotline TNT, Melody English), the accompanying video adds a surreal, dreamlike layer to the song’s introspection, signaling a bold sonic and visual evolution for the alt-rock artist.
Since arriving on the scene in 2021, Comet has carved out a distinct space with her haunting, grunge-drenched sound and brutally honest songwriting. “Opium” sets the tone for Quitter, a self-described “side-step into the world of pop-rock” that explores the liberation in letting go. Following the acclaim of her 2023 project Two-Winged and a string of live performances across the U.S. and Europe, Comet continues to cement herself as one of New York’s most compelling underground forces.
