Karly-Marina Loaiza, better known as Kali Uchis, is a Colombian singer who gained popularity with the release of her first album, “Isolation” along with her collaborations with big names like Tyler, the Creator. She released her first single of 2023 titled “I Wish you Roses”, getting fans excited for what she has coming up in the future.

Kali Uchis is known for her signature angelic voice, and this song only solidifies this fact for her. Her harmonies float over the soft beat, creating a sultry feeling for listeners. The whole track is built off of different kinds of synths and simple drum patterns. It is impressive how the instrumental of the song is so complex and layered. The song slows down at the end, pushing forward calming ocean waves through the listener's ears. The creative workings of this track gain Kali Uchis a 9/10 on the Intersect Rating Scale.

On this track, Kali expresses her feelings after breaking up with her lover. She uses the metaphor of a rose, saying, “with pretty flowers can come the bee sting”, and “ I wish you roses while you can still smell them”. She additionally spoke about the meaning of the song on her TikTok, stating that when people experience hardship with their partners in relationships, they should not seek revenge, but instead fight back with love.
