THE SOUND
The sound we got from Miss Rowland is no longer sweet and sassy like her Destiny's Child days; this is full-blown grown woman. The feel of this single is definitely before and after hours and that's definitely the time to vibe to it. The tempo of the song is on the slower side, but it's consistent throughout the song, which almost forces listeners to slow down and concentrate on her sultry lyrics. The song is pretty simple but is definitely a short and sexy song that was made with intention. Enjoy with caution :). This song earns an 8/10 on Intersect’s Rating scale.
THE SINGING
We all know Kellandria Rowland can sing. We’ve heard her stand-alone, even side by side with Beyoncé. This track doesn’t really showcase that though. The song is heavy on drums and bass and cool sound effects, but the vocals are not extraordinary. It’s very simple and compliments the background music. We’re not disappointed, but we’re also not impressed. Her voice is smooth and compliments her lyrics as well. The singing on this track earns a 6/10 on the Intersect Rating scale.
THE ART BEHIND THE SINGLE
Kelly is delivering us a song for a certain time; an Any Place and Anytime track. The song tells a story of longing for your lover, physically. Everything about the song fits within that vision—the tempo, the lyrics, even the singing. It’s even reflected in the single cover. The cover features a simple blue background and Kelly Rowland’s profile on the left side; everything about this screams simplicity. The song is under three minutes; not much is to be said about the type of urgency she sings about. The art behind this album is an act unspoken but definitely understood. This song earns an 8/10 on Intersect’s Rating scale.
