How Brown is Changing the Virtual Live Concert Game

The Brown Arts Initiative and members of the Brown Esports organization have created a Minecraft replica of the College Green, and will host a series of virtual concerts.

The replica of Brown's campus features a stage and sound booth on the grass near the Stephen Robert '62 Campus Center, a giant statue of the iconic Blueno bear, a boxing ring, and a porta-potty, which doubles as an underground roller coaster.

All sets will be pre-recorded, and artists can join the server and interact with the audience through their Minecraft avatar.

Brown and Rhode Island School of Design students as well as other musicians from across the country will perform at the concerts, which can be accessed in Minecraft and via YouTube or Twitch livestream.

The Minecraft world will open at 7:00 PM on Saturday, March 27, and the show will begin at 8:00 PM. Performers include Suzi Analogue, Moor Mother, and San Cha.

For more information about the upcoming concert series, check out the Events at Brown Website.
