Collina Strada SS25 "Touch Grass"

New York Fashion Week’s Spring/Summer 2025 season kicked off with a spectacle that was as playful as it was profound. Collina Strada’s show, titled “Touch Grass,” took fashion enthusiasts on a journey through a vibrant, eco-conscious wonderland.

Held in the serene Marble Cemetery in the East Village, the setting was a sensational backdrop to a collection celebrating Mother Earth in all her whimsical glory.

The venue choice was both daring and unconventional — The Marble Cemetery, with its lush greenery and historical gravestones, provided a peaceful and almost otherworldly setting for the show. The grass runway added a naturalistic touch, further emphasizing the eco-friendly theme. As if it were possible to undermine the collection’s playful essence, a real lawn mower made an appearance, trundling down the runway, paired with a stunning black lace top and matching bloomers. The juxtaposition of high fashion with everyday tasks was a clever nod to the message of connecting with nature.

Breaking from the traditional runway presentation, models at the Collina Strada show fully immersed themselves in the spirit of the collection. Their performances were a blend of elegance and performance art, featuring somersaults and creative dance moves that brought an infectious energy to the runway. Floor-length hair dyed with vibrant green tips, models with grass-stained knees and elbows, and an appearance from the iconic Green Lady of Brooklyn carrying a plush lizard bag added to the fantasy-like ambiance.

“Touch Grass” was an ode to the natural world, and it showed in every detail. The collection was awash with pastels and ethereal designs that fluttered gently down the runway. Flowy, floral prints dominated the collection, each piece exuding a sense of delicacy. Light, airy fabrics in pastel shades of mint green, powder blue, and soft pink breezed down the runway, creating an almost dreamlike quality. Dresses with layers and ruffles and intricate embroidery captured the essence of a blooming garden, while tailored pieces featured organic shapes and romantic mesh detailing.
